The Places I ate while in Key West

It's been almost two weeks since we've been in Key West, and I promised a blog post about the places I ate in Key West. I'll recap the sit down places I ate, since there were some places where we just grabbed some food and moved on our way.

Coco Plum Inn Bed & Breakfast

We stayed here, and hence had breakfast there every morning.

Best.Breakfast.Ever. I ate eggs all week, first few days scrambled with sausage and biscuit and then moved onto the omelet with cheese and sausage. Super good. Zero complaints.

Hogs Breath Saloon

This was our first dinner in Key West. I got their fish tacos. They were good, I've only recently started getting fish tacos and these were close to the top. The fish was good, I managed to snag a piece off and taste it sans tortilla, cabbage, and cheese. No sauces for me. You'll notice a fish theme for my eating.

Willie T's Restaurant and Bar

I believe this was our second dinner. I got the blackened mahi sandwich. It was awesome. A nice large piece of the fish, juicy and delicious. The best fish I had while in Key West, close to being the best I've ever had.

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville

We had to eat here, plus I think it's a law or something. This was a lunch time stop, we split a cheeseburger of course and washed them down with margarita's. Yep, that's all I know of Jimmy Buffet. Burger was good, nothing special, and nothing terrible. Margarita's were also so-so, I mean they had to use the Margaritaville brand and really that's just ok tequila.

Amigos Tortilla Bar Key West

Another lunch time stop. Excellent. I had the grilled half chicken, seasoned great. I totally forgot about the hot sauces that's how much I loved the chicken. It also came with some square tortillas, I believe they were corn, doesn't matter it was awesome. Definitely find this place if you go to Key West.

Sloppy Joe's

Meh. Just Meh. I had the blackened fish sandwich. I did not care for the blackening season, or the fish. The fish was not cooked well or good at all. Also when ordering a $13 dollar sandwich, I expect at least some sort of side. Chips would have been fine, but the sandwiches came with nothing, you had to order your side extra. I was warned to not go there, but we still did. Oh well, the only blemish on the trip.

Mangoes Restaurant

This was the rehearsal dinner for the wedding we were attending. I got the grilled shrimp and rice, it had some sort of pesto sauce on it. I don't know but it was really good, an excellent meal.

Key West Pub

This was a great find, it was our last lunch in Key West. I took a wrong turn on Duval Street when looking for a place to eat. Good thing too, I had the fish sliders. A fried fish split onto two sandwiches. The breading on the fish was amazing, and the fish was tasty as well. Bonus, seasoned fries, you cannot beat seasoned fries, unless they're waffled and seasoned.

Summary

Overall, I had a great eating experience in Key West. There were so many other places to eat that we did not make it to, but that's what happens when you visit a place like that. Prices were not that bad, most of the places had reasonably priced meals, especially with the portions. Also I did not take any pictures of my food, so here's another pelican picture. Pelicans rule.
