Five Long Years

This post kind of serves two purposes, being that I have been doing this for five years and post number 1,000.

Not sure why I took so long to get into making designs for t-shirts, I knew about CafePress for a number of years, just never did anything about it. Until one day I decided to create a design an upload it. I caught the bug and have been trying to make funny/humorous designs ever since. I enjoy doing this, it is my very own creative outlet without boundaries. Weird ideas pop into my head, so I make a shirt. If if sells, it sells, if it doesn't so what. I'm not losing anything on it.

Unfortunately at this point I thought I would have been making enough for me to buy some of my own basic equipment to make my own t-shirts at home for possible giveaways, or for friends and family. I do not though, between $30-40 a month is all a get. It was sweet a few years ago I was raking in about a $100 for a few months, then CafePress changed how they did things and I never got back to that. But I really don't want to get into that, this post is not about that.

A lot of designs have come and gone. Some were crap, some I've hidden, some are still there just modified a little. I do my best coming up with funny designs, most are something I find extremely funny. That may be my downfall a little, but whatever, I know somewhere out there a few people have my sense of humor and maybe they'll buy a shirt or two.

As for post number 1,000. That's just great. I started this blog sometime in September, since a few days after opening up a free shop my son was born. So I did not have the time to really put much stock into anything with this. Eventually a routine was formed and I got to the I guess marketing side of promoting my shop. I mean I blog, but I'm not sure how effective it is. I get hits to the blog, but hits do not translate into actually going to my shop and buying something. I think that has happened once or twice in the life of my blog. Not all that great. But I will continue to blog away.

Over the years I have done different kinds of blog posts. At one point I took decided to take away my random rants from this blog and put them into a different blog. That didn't last too long. I just brought all the posts back here, since I should have just kept them here in the first place. I went from the Awesome Image of the Week to the Gnome of the Day. I have also been back and forth with how I featured products. I used to do a monthly post, a weekly post, new design post (I still do now and again), to doing a featured product of the day. That is a little easier since CafePress and Zazzle both have tools on their site to easily featured an item.

I have to say, doing this has become a chore, especially when feedback/sales are not there. Then I get one every so often and this no longer feels like a chore. I do enjoy doing it, I do wish I could just do this, but that is just not in the cards.

The Places I ate in Ocean City, MD 2011 Edition

I'm back from vacation and it's time once again to recap the places I ate while at Ocean City, MD. This time I took pictures, well for the most part. 

Burger King at Willow Street

I normally don't do this, but I was kind of upset. I ordered the BK Stacker (which is my go to meal whenever I visit BK). I'm guessing since they have this burger on the value menu, they have decided to downgrade the burger. Look at that pathetic excuse for bacon. Shame on you Burger King. 

Grotto Pizza

My Mom and Aunt stopped there to get pizza for our dinner Saturday evening, after one of the longest trips to OCMD I have ever been in. The last time I had pizza from there was 5 years ago when Mo and I took a trip to Rehobeth Beach before Aaron was born. I definitely like pizza that is warm and not piping hot, a whole lot easier to eat. Their pizza is good, really good dough, not the best I've ever had though.

Tequila Mockingbird

This is a must when we go to Ocean City, I love their food. It's normally really good and a good portion. I got the spicy beef tacos, which I forgot to get a picture of and had no idea that the meal had onions in it. You see, I cannot not eat onions, not that I don't like them, it's just that eating an onion will give me cat piss breath for a few days. That's something I can avoid, I'm going to. They were still good though, and bonus their rice did not contain onions this year. So I was able to enjoy that with my meal.

The Greene Turtle

This is another great place to go that has really good food with great portions at a great price. This year I got the Caribbean Jerk Chicken Salad, it was great. Four jerk seasoned chicken tenders, with pineapple, bacon, on romaine (I guess, don't really remember). Extremely good, but the salad was missing some cheese. That would have brought it all together. 

Duffy's Tavern

I absolutely love this place. I know it's kind of looks like a dank bar, but their happy hour specials are great. Plus they have Otis Campbell's Jail Cell Stout, they're house stout, good stuff. This year I got their fish and chips and half a pound of steamed shrimp. That meal was $10, and if you see the picture it was a big portion. They're steamed shrimp is great, decent size, tasted fresh and half price. The fish was really good to, their breading isn't too heavy, and the fish was really good. Not sure what kind of fish it was, some kind of white fish. I don't know and I don't care, it was awesome. 

The Blue Ox Bar and Grill

Not really sure why we went here, had problems with this place last year, and this year was kind of the same. Food was good, but just was not happy with the overall experience. Waitress was fine, kind of bummed I got charged full price for my beer and not the happy hour rate. Guessing you need to be at the bar for that. For my meal I got the Chicken Cheesesteak, it was good, but it was lacking a sauce. I should have asked for some, and I don't think it was American cheese. Melted American cheese just goes extremely well with chicken for some reason, it needs that salty extra that the cheese brings. Roll was decent too, not great. Gotta remember if we go to OCMD next year to just skip this place. 

Tequila Mockingbird

Yes, we went back there, but we ate in the bar area this time. I got the chicken tacos (which I got last year too, way for me to mix things up), and almost forgot to take a picture before eating. Very good, filling, but not stuffed when I was done, even after eating the chips and drinking some Dos Equis. 

The Greene Turtle

Yep, went back here again too. This year we stayed on 120th street, and we were just that much closer so we went back. This time I went with the Fish and Popcorn shrimp entree. Not bad, I was expecting a much smaller meal, but it was actually a decent size. Fairly good price too, like $12.99, I'd get that again. Fish was good (I mean you really can't mess up fried fish, unless it's crappy fish), but a distant second when compared to Duffy's. 

Bubba's Breakfast (I think)

We stopped here to eat breakfast when we left Saturday morning to have a quick visit with my cousin and her husband. Sorry no picture, I was too hungry to care about getting a picture. I had the bagel, egg, cheese, and bacon sandwich. Frickin' Awesome.
