The Pro Bowl needs to go

I'm not saying get rid of it entirely, but it needs to be changed from the current format.

I use to be interested in a Pro Bowl, when I was a kid and cared that Steelers players made the team. But as I got older, I just became less interested in the game itself. It's often boring as all hell, but I'm just assuming since I do not think I have ever watched an entire game in over 20 years. Most of the time I forgot the game was on, since it use to air after the Super Bowl. I think the NFL did the right thing moving it before the Super Bowl, because now I remember it's on and may tune in to see what's happening. Just like I did last night, but I really did not care what the score was.

They need to make the Pro Bowl some what interesting to everyone. I say do a flag football tournament with like 7 players from each team, have that go like 3 days. I would watch that and be interested, all at the same time. The NFL could even make up a mini-Lombardi trophy for the winner. Plus, this would give the NFL network and all the other sports station something to talk about other than who has the best beard in the NFL and all those other non-important stories about the super bowl teams.

You know this is better than what they have now!

This Week: 191.3

Down 0.7 from last week. Win. Trying to sabotage myself again by eating things I really don't need to eat. Plus the AFC Championship game this past Sunday didn't help me either. I try to stay away from Sunday drinking, but I just couldn't for this game. I needed that beer to help me through the game, but not for the weight loss. The wings I made didn't help me either, but at least I just covered those in seasoning and not buffalo sauce. 

Same old same old for the workout routine, some snow shoveling mixed in with the weights and cardio. Nothing new there. Still up a little from 10 days of Christmas stuffing.

Some Commercials are just dumb - McDonald's Drive-Thru Baby

Yeah, yeah I watch a lot of TV what's it to you?? With that, I get to see a lot of commercials. Most of them suck, so let's point out why they suck.

This guy is driving around to keep his baby sleeping. Never did that, and if you do I feel bad for you, gas is expensive these days, so by your kid a swing it's cheaper. Guess this guy gets hungry and decides to go to the McDonald's drive-thru to get some grub. He then proceeds to continue to drive around and tries to whisper his order into the microphone-order thingy. At some point the McDonald's employee finally figures out what he's doing and helps this poor sap out, because apparently when his kid cries it's the shriek of death. He finally gets his order and drives off a happy man.

Why is this commercial dumb? First off, he doesn't even pay for his meal? I guess if you just drive around the drive-thru at McDonald's and whisper your order you'll get a free meal. Plus what McDonald's employee is going to do that for you? None and we all know it, if you did this the worker would probably just flip you off and laugh. Plus, I think you're going to be ok to stop for a few minutes to get your McDonald's food while your baby sleeps. Dumb commercial.

Weekly Weight Loss Update

Down 1.1 pounds, still up 3 from the end of 2010. Of course when I needed the scale to be good to me on Monday it was not at all. Coming off the weekend is never good for me, I'm always up for some reason. Oh well the scale was right on and nothing I can do about it, since my weigh-in day is on Wednesday.

Same old routine, although I did shovel some snow yesterday so that was a little more activity than normal. I keep saying it, but I just haven't worked in another workout day yet. Really need to work in the yoga, that just makes my body feel a little bit better. Although I did up the speed that I run at. I am not at 6.5 on the treadmill for the mile and a half that I run.

New Design - Surly Gnome Brewing Company

I'm not going to say this is my best idea ever, but I think it is one of my best designs I have ever done. I used this Design a Print-Ready Beer Label  as a guide and created everything in (except the photo of Larry, which I manipulated in Photoshop).

Well, down 1.6 of the near 5 pounds I've gained over Christmas break. Damn pounds go on easy. You'd like to think they would drop off just the same. Gonna take me a month to get back to where I was. 

Back on watching what I eat, trying not to over indulge too much. As for working out, back to the normal. Two days of cardio and weightlifting. Really need to add at least one extra day of something different. Yoga or something.

It's That Time Again

The NFL playoffs start this weekend, and every year on my Steelers Friday (Steelers Friday is when I wear my steelers gear, and game day. A tradition I started a few years ago during the NFL season.) But every year before the playoffs, if the Steelers are involved. I bust out this shirt.

This is the first Steelers shirt that I owned (that I can remember anyhow.) It dates back to 1987 when I became a fan. Which, either the shirt was really big, or I was really fat when I was in 4th grade. Well, it was both, plus the tag has since fallen off given the shirt is 23 years old. You also have to remember there was a time that the NFL let third parties make their apparel. NFL items are not like it is today, you can find virtually anything with your favorite team on it. There was a time it was seemingly limited to the area where the team was located.

Back to why it is my playoff Steelers shirt. Before the Steelers 2005 playoff I run, I was able to fit back into this shirt after losing a bunch of weight. I wore it before the playoffs and since then it is the only time I wear the shirt .If the Steelers make the playoffs. I don't want to ruin the shirt by wearing it throughout the NFL regular season, it's in a fairly good condition, but I don't need it falling apart. It's a very special shirt.

Some People are just Crazy

The other night a show was put on TV that was not my doing. Extreme Couponing on TLC. We watched about 30 minutes of this show before we went to bed.

Crazy is all I can say.

In those 30 minutes they went through two separate people. It's hard to believe that someone would spend that much time and effort to get tons of food they don't really need. The one lady spent about 70 hours or something a week on couponing. Finding them online, scouting stores before shopping there, then going shopping and filling like 9 carts full of food that they will pay $50 for. The best part is, these are people you will see on the show hoarders in about 3 years. Filling up rooms full of food that will expire well before they can eat it.

Hell, the one lady was dumpster diving with her like 3 or 4 year old son to find discarded coupons. That's just nuts. Doesn't seem worth it to me.

Don't get me wrong, I love using coupons and saving money at the store, but I do not need 500 boxes of pasta. Not sure if I will ever eat 500 boxes of pasta in my life.

Well, I might go dumpster diving for coupons if it were for free cases of beer.

Well. I figured it would be bad and it was. Eat whatever week was fun. It all started Christmas eve and ended this past Sunday, a little more than a week but I'm not counting. There is about 3+ weeks out of the year that I don't care about what I eat, and Christmas week is one of them. It doesn't matter as long as it doesn't continue, and I won't let it. I want the 180 goal, which I think I can get. 

Hopefully those 5 pounds come off as easy as they went on, but I doubt it. That never happens, it's easy to gain weight that's for sure. Harder to lose it, but I am determined. 

Sucks though, I didn't get everything I wanted this past week. Should hit the Pizza Hut buffet, it's been a while. Oh well, maybe next year.
