I love doing my t-shirt designs and blog, but this is not my job. It never really was intended to be my job. Just something I did to let myself be creative and make a little bit of money on the side. Trust me, it's a tiny amount of money I make from my shops. I'm sure a lot of that falls on me, weak design or not giving it a proper description. If you haven't notice, creative writing/writing in general is not my thing. Add it to the list of things to do.
But the reality is that I'm unemployed. Over a year now, yay fun. Was hoping that with the time off I would be able to drive more traffic to my shops, maybe some more sales. Nope, I'm better off just letting it alone, the sales were better when I was ignoring my shops. I guess if you think this is full-time for me, I'm doing something right. I mean, I would gladly love for the t-shirts to clear 20k/year. I'd have no problem with that at all, but it might clear $300/year.
I only pay for my premium shop on cafepress, about $60 a year which I use my sales to pay for. Everything else is free (blogger/facebook/twitter/squidoo/adsense/other stuff), just sign up and go. I think I have put a good presence out there, but the reality is the t-shirt marketplace is saturated. That's my main problem. I know I have funny designs, I just need to figure out a way to get my best designs out there. Any suggestions??
