The NFL is always looking for ways to improve player safety, like upping the regular season from 16 games to 18 games, designing better helmets to lessen concussions, telling players that have played the game one way their entire life that now they have to play a different way. Well I don't think they've done enough, so I have some ideas for the NFL to consider.
1. Give offensive players shotguns with bean bag shells. Offensive players can use these as much as they like, maybe just have one guy clearing the way for the ball runner.

Well, probably not the best idea, considering someone will probably lose an eye.
2. All NFL defensive players should wear those sumo wrestling suits. No more helmet to helmet collisions anymore when the defense is wearing some those!

Better than the bean bag shotgun shells, but it'll be like watching the arena league with scores like 140-133. And no one wants to watch the Arena league.
3. Replace all NFL defensive squads with youth football defenses. Give these kids the limelight for a day.

Well. You'll probably have more injuries and not to adults making a butt-load of money, but kids. Not good.
4. Well, this one is obvious, just turn the NFL into the NFFL (National Flag Football League). Since the NFL wants to increase player safety we can just put flags on so no one will ever get tackled again.

I don't think anyone would watch that though.
