Last week I mentioned I was during the step counting thingy.
Well, we start over on Wednesday, so I will give my recap of how I'm doing on, well, Wednesdays.
I am happy to say that I have increased my average each week, maybe not the 10% we are doing at my work, but I have increased my average. Plus 10% of 12,000+ is a little more difficult that adding 10% to 5,000 (lazy people). This week I skipped on lifting weights, which I didn't care to do. The times just didn't work out for me. I'll try harder this week to lift. But I did run quite a few times this past week.
Also, I didn't make it to 10,000 each day. I missed one day, last Wednesday. Again, maybe this week. Here are my totals for this past week.
Wednesday 5/20 - 9,010
Thursday 5/21 - 14,992
Friday 5/22 - 13,252
Saturday 5/23 - 16,071
Sunday 5/24 -18,719
Monday 5/25 -12,143
Tuesday 5/26 - 13,213
An average of 13,914 steps a day.
I want 15,000 a day average, I can do it.

Garden 2009

Today I bought the rest of my plants for my garden and well planted it.
This years line-up:
Onions
which I planted awhile ago, yellow onions I believe.
Tomatoes
Three different varieties
Abe Lincoln
Legend
Jet Star (the famous Washington Boro Tomato variety!!)
The variety of tomatoes I somehow always keep in mind. Probably because I worked on a tomato farm for almost 10 years in Washington Boro and we raised Jet Star, since all other varieties are crap. We shoved that down the consumers throat and they listened.
Peppers
Three different kinds
sorry, I cannot remember the variety names, but they are:
Bell peppers
sweet banana peppers?
Jalapeno peppers
Cucumbers
I don't know, just cucumbers, not the pickling kind that's all I know. I use to plant these from seed, but this year I just bought a plant to control how many plants actually spring up. Last year I had 4, way too many for my tiny area I call a garden.
And new this year:
Zucchini and Eggplant (white and classic)
We'll see how it goes, hopefully the zucchini plants don't get to awful big.
Well that's it, I'll try to keep updates on how everything goes throughout the year. I love having a garden, even though I only eat the peppers out of it. I will also get some pictures with my digital camera as opposed to my phone camera. I was dirty and the phone was available.

10,000 step challenge...
PWNED!
Recently at my work we had someone set up a getting fit challenge by using pedometers. Not necessarily the 10,000 step challenge, just improve 10% from the previous week. Well kids my base week was a tad over 12,000 steps. This week, well I don't think I'm going to make an extra 10%, it may be close. We had some house issues that really set me back last week. /excuse
But I'm going to average 12,000 plus. Fairly easy for me to hit 10,000 a day since it seems like I'm always doing it. No wonder I can't lose weight. Yeah I'm blaming that and NOT the beer. Beer wouldn't do that to me.
My personal goal, 15,000 step average. I think I can get it.

I want a new house
In the tune of I want a new drug by Huey Lewis and the News.
I want a new house
One that wont make me work
One that wont make me get my tools
Or make my hair get real thin
I want a new house
One that wont hurt my hand
One that wont make my head hurt too hard
Or make my eyes tear all up
One that wont suck
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel real real good
When Im away from you
I want a new house
One that wont spill
One that dont cost too much
Or come on a hill
I want a new house
One that wont fall apart
One that wont keep me up all night
One that wont make me work all day
One that wont suck
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel real real good
When Im away from you
I want a new house
One that does what it should
One that wont make me feel too bad
One that will make me feel real real good
I want a new house
One with no doubt
One that wont make me work too much
Or make my back really ache
One that wont suck
Wondering what to do
One that makes me feel real real good
When Im away from you

Brewfest 2009
This past Saturday, May 9, 2009. My wife and I attended Brewfest at the PA Renaissance Fair.
Good times for sure! We got to taste a lot of beer from regional vendors and eat some food for a couple hours.
The above link will direct to to the web page and you can read what was there, but I will some memorable moments as best I can.
*warning I am not a food critic or beer connoisseur so go easy on me*
First lets start with food. They had 3 different buffets, American, German, and Irish. I mention Irish last because I wanted nothing from that buffet other than their bread, the Soda bread reminded me of a biscuit. The German and American buffets were where we ate. Hot Dog, Chicken, Brisket, and Beer Bread were all fairly good. Footlong Hot Dog was the headliner for me, I was disappointed with the brisket, meh. I still ate it though. For the German, you just can't go wrong with Beer Brats, should have gotten more than one. Pulled pork was a tad sweet but the roll soaked that up very nicely. Overall the food was good and really any complaints I had are just pointless.
For the beer, lots of vendors and lots to choose from. I don't remember too many names of the breweries, too many for me to remember. Most had a choice of two beers, and I didn't hit all of them I hit the majority. Some good, some not so good. But really that's all about your personal taste. Some like that hoppy taste and I do not. My wife, who is not a beer drinker at all, even got in on the tasting, and I had to drive home because of it. Her favorite, Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, that was some real good stuff right there. Yuengling had a Bock which I got a few times, not bad at all. One brewery called the Intercourse Brewery had something called Bareville (something something) which we both liked. And lots of other places where I tasted beer. Just highlights here!
For some downfalls of the event.
-buffet only open from 4:30-6:30 (the event went from 4-8) bastards.
-5oz tasting glass, which some vendors filled half full. You're there to show off your beer not how cheap you are. Fill it.
-The line getting in. One line checking everyones ID. Fail. have 3 or 4.
-Some PA RenFair folk came dressed. they were dorks.
Yeah, that's about it, not much to complain about and it's nothing that really matters much to me. We had a wonderful time. I think totally worth $40 a piece, no parking fee either, so that's like an extra $10.

Wow.
Found this via Mondei's House.
Stats Don't Lie. Who is the best Quarterback under 30 in the NFL.
I'll spoil it for you. Philip Rivers.
Really? Don't get hung up on Super Bowls, either
At the end of a Quarterbacks career they are judged how well they played the entire season. By entire season I do not just mean Regular season, I mean the whole thing. Super Bowl included. Not saying Rivers doesn't have a chance to win one, but at this point in time he's got nothing going on in the Super Bowl department. Ben has 2 SB Wins, 3 AFC Championship Appearances. I'd take Ben over Rivers any day thank you very much.
I bet Dan Marino would give up his great career for just one Super Bowl Win.

London
I know it's not official yet, but this is some bullshit.
http://withleather.uproxx.com/2009/05/london-really-really-wants-the-super-bowl
Why?
Why does the NFL think that Europeans want the NFL. They like soccer, that faggy little game where they may not even score a goal, but is somehow exciting (to them). So as you will read in that blog post is that NFL is just going to screw out the loyal fans who support that team 12 months a year, not just for one game. I kind of hope it does go to London and fucking flops big time. I honestly hope the Steelers do not make it to the Super Bowl that year (if it happens), because I plan on not watching.
Stop going to Europe NFL, stay here and strengthen your game. Europe doesn't want us, remember the NFL Europe experiment?

Sam Adams Summer Styles Review
This past year, I have been trying a variety of beers. Kind of started out at New Years with the Sam Adams Winter Styles. Not bad, I gave them a shot. This past week I got Sam Adams Summer Styles. Once again, not too bad. I found one I really liked.

1. Top pick from me, Blackberry Witbier. I kind of wish the blackberry was a little stronger, but overall I loved this one. Went down easy. Very good.

2. Summer Ale. Can't say I tasted much of the Lemon Zest, but I could drink quite few of these and not get sick of it.

3. Sam Adams Light. Really good beer, not all hoppy like the Regular Sam Adams but doesn't taste too much like a light beer.

4. Pale Ale. Meh. It's ok, not a favorite.

5. Sam Adams Boston Lager. Meh again. If it's offered, I'll drink it. I'm sure it's great with a certain meal or something.

6. Hefeweizen. Super Meh. Least favorite of the bunch. Once again I'm sure it goes great with a certain type of meal, but not as a beer by itself.

Awesome Image of the Week

This weeks awesome image comes from WGAL 8 Morning edition. While the other news anchor was going on about the swine flu they panned to Lori Burkholder. Well, she wasn't paying attention and looked half bored and I love DVR. I was able to pause, go back and snap a picture. Awesome. Also, check out the sweet swine flu graphic.
